Currently serve as Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee on a Nasdaq listed energy company and as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Business School at Cal State University, San Marcos. Additional activities include teaching Career Development at CSUSM, coaching at the board level and serving as an executive search expert witness.

Rejoined this global executive search firm to build a market presence in the San Diego area. Served as a consultant and “thought partner” to senior management and boards of start-up organizations to multi-billion dollar companies in size.  Conducted senior level searches across all industries on a global basis. Largest client relationship was Sempra Energy, a $12 billion dollar NYSE Company, which resulted in 25 placements in top leadership positions including their President and six Board Members.

Jenny Craig, Inc., President/COO
Successfully reorganized and positioned this $400 million dollar weight loss company to go public on the NYSE in 1991. Implemented new systems and infrastructure to help grow the company into 600 company-owned and 200 franchised weight loss centers throughout the United States and overseas. The company was eventually sold to Nestles for $600 million dollars, after my departure.

Advanced within this leading global executive search firm from junior consultant in the Los Angeles Office to Global CEO. Implemented the firm’s first strategic plan which included the creation of specialty practices that enabled the organization to become #1 in its industry. 

Action Agency, Acting Director
Served as a Presidential Appointee under President Ford and was confirmed by the US Senate to help lead the Federal Volunteer Agency which included the Peace Corps, Vista, Foster Grandparents, RSVP, SCORE and ACE. Started as Director of Public Affairs and was eventually put in charge of all 250,00 volunteers throughout the US and in 68 developing countries world-wide. Supervised 2,000 employees and a $200 million dollar budget. Directed all transition activities between the Ford and Carter administrations, including the presentation of President Carter’s budget for the agency to congress.

Managed advertising and public relations activities for various packaged goods accounts within the largest advertising agency in the world. Clients included Standard Brands, Miles Laboratories, Seven-Up and Blue Cross. Prior to account role, served as Personnel Manager for the Creative Department and Director of Training for the agency.
