Creating a Seamless Transition to Cal State San Marcos
Organize and deliver a NCHEA sponsored retreat on transfer student issues that includes presentations and workshop time. Each NCHEA campus will be asked to send 30 professionals who will become part of work teams that will draft collaborative action plans for working on transfer student issues.
Conduct a needs analysis to identify the barriers to the academic and social transition of Cal State San Marcos, MiraCosta College, and Palomar College students. Teams will include faculty, student affairs professionals, and academic advisors.
Ancient Greek Chorus – An International and Local Theatre Collaboration
The development of a theatre piece that will be presented on each of the three campuses upon completion. Through discussion between the three institutions we have realized that bringing international approaches to creating theatre to North County to expand the range and vocabulary of the theatre we are teaching and creating is an accessible goal that will make our programs stronger and will better serve our students and the region.Immediate objectives include the development of a theatre piece based upon the workshop's activity. Embedded within this objective will be exposing students to contemporary European theatre aesthetics and practices which differ from mainstream American theatre.
Lux Boreal Dance Residency
To bring Tijuana based dance company LUX BOREAL for a three day artist-in-residency in North County. The residency will include a master class for students and community members at Palomar College, a lecture/demonstration at CSUSM, and a performance at MiraCosta College. The proposed dates of the residency are February 6-8, 2008
National Association of Geoscience Teachers Far Western Section Spring Field Conference
- To provide positive, field-oriented activities during the days and lectures in the evenings for members of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers
- NCHEA funds will goes towards transportation, food and Guidebook
College Success/First Year Program Students Get-Together
Arrange to have 60-80 students from MiraCosta and Palomar Counseling classes visit Cal State San Marcos over a period of two Fridays in November 2007 to:
- Tour the college
- Meet with staff and students of Cal State San Marcos’s First Year Program
- Meet with staff and students of Student Services and Resources
