SUBJECT: Extension of Term Appointments

After consultation with the Academic Affairs Leadership Council, I agree with their recommendation that I extend the term appointments of the interim dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services (CEHHS), and the interim dean of the Library in order to allow a new Provost to appoint the permanent deans through a search process. 

I am pleased that Dr. Janet Powell has agreed to serve in the position as dean of CEHHS, for a term appointment until the end of spring semester 2014 or later until a new dean is hired, and that Wayne Veres, dean of the library, has also agreed to this same term appointment. Neither will carry the title of interim as my expectation is that they will both lead their respective areas in an assertive and strategic fashion.
