Associate Vice President, HR and Payroll Services - Campus Open Forums, Nov. 15 and 22 (Rescheduled)

Travis Gregory, M.Ed., SPHR

Travis Gregory has served as the administrative dean of Human Resources for Imperial Valley College since 2007. As the chief human resources officer, he is currently responsible for: labor negotiations, employee relations, recruitment and equal employment opportunity, benefits administration, and payroll. He has served in HR leadership positions across private and public industries including casino gaming, healthcare, and higher education.

Travis has been a judge for the Las Vegas “Best Places to Work” awards and has been contacted for HR expertise and quotes by news organizations such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and University Business. He has served as president of two chapters (Imperial Valley and Southwest Arizona) of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is a member of the 2013-14 national SHRM special expertise panel on labor relations.

Following service in the U.S. Marine Corps as a military police officer, Travis earned a Master’s of Education degree in Human Relations/Counseling from Northern Arizona University, and has also achieved the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). 
Mychal Coleman, Ed.D.

Dr. Mychal Coleman is currently the assistant vice president/executive director for the Center of Strategic Initiatives & Continuous Improvement at the University of Idaho, where he also previously served as assistant vice president of Human Resources.  He is currently responsible for coordinating and facilitating strategic planning activities amongst all strategic business units with the Division of Finance and Administration.  As assistant VP of Human Resources, he had responsibility for six HR business units including Employment Services, Benefits, Professional Development and Learning, Payroll Services, HR Administration, and Organizational Effectiveness.  Mychal previously served four years as director of Human Resources at The Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota where he had responsibility for all areas of human resources including recruitment, compensation, employee and labor relations, organizational development, and diversity.  He has served in HR leadership positions across private and public industries including communications, transportation and higher education.

Mychal has taught courses on organizational behavior and change, HR management, strategic planning and finance.  He has been published in a variety of journals and publications, such as the Journal of the Organization Development Network, Journal for Quality & Participation and Minnesota’s Journal for HR Mangement, among others. 

Mychal earned a Master of Education in Industrial Relations/Human Resources Development from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota and later earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Development from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis.
