Appointment of Dr. Scott Greenwood, Interim Associate Dean for Curriculum & Instruction

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Scott Greenwood, Associate Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Department of Political Science, has been appointed Interim Associate Dean for Curriculum & Instruction in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral & Social Sciences effective July 1, 2013.

Dr. Greenwood brings to the position a broad range of leadership experiences in curriculum and instruction and has a strong commitment to our instructional mission. Dr. Greenwood oversaw the creation of the interdisciplinary Global Studies program; he served as director of a $177,000 USDoE program development grant and served as program coordinator from 2004-2009. As Chair of Political Science, he led collaborative efforts to improve curriculum in research methods and critical thinking. As co-Chair of GEC for the past several years, he has had extensive experience leading general education curricular enhancements. Dr. Greenwood also has the personal qualities that correspond with the key values of my office. He is a collaborative leader, an excellent listener and communicator, and has tremendous personal integrity. In all, he will be a terrific addition to our team and will continue the College’s significant momentum.

I wish to thank the members of our search committee for their time and their valuable input to me: Dr. Patty Seleski (Chair; CHABSS Dean’s Office), Dr. Bob Rider (Economics), Dr. Heidi Breuer (Literature & Writing Studies), and Ms. Krista Gutierrez (Political Science & Women’s Studies).

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Greenwood on his appointment.
