CSUSM Celebrates 20th Commencement on Campus

     What:      California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) hosts its
                   20th annual commencement ceremonies on campus, after ten
                   years of holding graduation ceremonies offsite at the
                   Del Mar Fairgrounds.

     When:     Friday, May 20, 3:00 p.m. and
                   Saturday, May 21, 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
 
     Where:   Mangrum Track and Field, California State University San Marcos
                   333 South Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos

     Who:      Approximately 1,743 candidates are expected to participate
                  (2,079 undergraduate and graduate students and 300 teacher
                  credential candidates are eligible).

     Traffic:   Traffic congestion and backups can be anticipated in the 
                  area and surrounding streets, especially along South Twin
                  Oaks Valley Road, the 78 Freeway, Barham Drive, and Craven
                  Road. University Police and the Sheriff's Department will
                  be directing and controlling traffic flow along South Twin
                  Oaks. Motorists should expect traffic delays; graduates,
                  families and friends are advised to plan accordingly to
                  arrive on time. Broadcast Media: Any mention that can be
                  made regarding expected traffic delays during broadcasts
                  on May 20th and 21st would be greatly appreciated!

Conferring degrees for candidates for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science: Liberal Studies, Integrated Credential Program, and Nursing -- Conferring degrees for candidates for Masters of Arts and Teaching Credential: Education and Teaching Credential -- Conferring of degrees for candidates for Doctorate in Educational Administration

Ceremony Two: Saturday, May 21 - 9:00 a.m.
Conferring of Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters to J. Douglas Pardee -- Conferring of degrees for candidates for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science: Applied Physics, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Business, Computer Science/Computer Information Systems, Chemistry, Economics, Kinesiology, Mathematics, and Psychology -- Conferring degrees for candidates for Master of Arts, Master of Science and MBA: Biology, Biotechnology, Business, Computer Science/Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, and Psychology

Ceremony Three: Saturday, May 21 - 2:00 p.m.
Conferring of Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts to José Yenque -- Conferring degrees for candidates for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science: Anthropology, Communication, Criminology and Justice Studies, History, Human Development, Literature and Writing, Mass Media, Political Science, Sociology, Social Sciences, Spanish, Special Major, Women's Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts -- Conferring degrees for candidates for Master of Arts and Master of Science: History, Literature and Writing, Sociological Practice, and Spanish 

All three commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live over the Internet on the day of the event at www.csusm.edu/commencement.
