Master Irish flute musician Brian Finnegan and Grammy-winning guitarist William Coulter will unite for an incredible evening concert featuring traditional Irish music at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) on Friday, October 8.

Veterans of the folk music world, Finnegan, the virtuoso flutist for the legendary Anglo-Irish band Flook and world-renowned guitarist Coulter, best known for his collaborations with some of the best Irish and Irish-American musicians like classical guitarist Benjamin Verdery and Irish singer Eilis Kennedy, met while teaching at the Boxwood flute camp in Nova Scotia in the summer of 2008. The two enjoyed collaborating together so much they decided to book their first ever tour this fall.

Coulter's flawless and sensitive guitar technique gives the impression as if the instrument were a steel-string choir, while Finnegan blends international influences with a rare mix of intense technical brilliance to create bold melodies. As a duo, their love of traditional Irish music comes to life in their hands.

The Finnegan and Coulter Irish Concert is sponsored by the Funes Concert Series Fund, a memorial fund established by long-time CSUSM supporter Carolyn Funes in memory of her late husband and founding faculty member Dr. Donald J. Funes to enhance student learning by bringing prominent musicians and performing artists to the campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students with ID.
