President Karen Haynes with Robert Aeillo-Hauser at the 2014 Outstanding Faculty and Staff Awards Reception.
Robert Aiello-Hauser, director of the LGBTQA Pride Center, is named "Employee of the Year."
As both a CSUSM alumnus and an employee, Robert takes deep pride in his work with students, offering advice, creating unique learning opportunities and organizing and participating in numerous events.
Last April and May, Robert coordinated the Campus Pride Walk and the annual Rainbow Recognition and Awards Ceremony. In addition, he assisted in the planning of four other year-end graduation ceremonies and attended the TRiO, ACE Scholars and Native American Honoring Ceremony. Robert also volunteered at all four 2013 commencement ceremonies, helping with student check-in and serving as a faculty marshal for his lecturer role in First Year Programs.
His contributions to enhancing campus life and fostering a diverse, welcoming and inclusive campus are immeasurable. As the facilitator for the weekend Leadership Education and Development retreat, Robert provides new students with the tools they need to become campus leaders. As director of the Pride Center, he ensures that CSUSM’s LGBTQA students have a safe place to discuss concerns and celebrate their worth. He is a mentor and advocate for students, staff and faculty and a valued member of the CSUSM community.
