Cal State San Marcos Competes at UCSD Triton Invitational
The Cal State San Marcos track and field team competed in the two-day 2003 UCSD Triton Invitational at Triton Track & Field Stadium Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, with most events taking place on Saturday. Among the highlights were a first place finish in the men’s 10,000 m run by Rene Reyes on Friday, a strong showing by several Cougar runners in the men’s 1,500 m run, and a fourth place finish by Abril Jimenez in the 400 m hurdles.
Cal State San Marcos Women’s Results:
100 m dash: Andrea Jackson placed 13th with :13.15; and Katrena Robinson placed 20th with :13.73.
400 m dash: Tiffany Lowery placed 16th with 1:04.33.
800 m run: Luci Downey placed 21st with 2:26.99.
1,500 m run: Katherine Niblett placed seventh with 4:47.46; Camille Wilborn placed 11th with 4:56.74; Carissa Marin placed 17th with 5:02.77; and Ann Marie Byrne placed 18th with 5:03.43.
3,000 m run: Yolanda Carillo placed 18th with 11:47.08; and Olympia Olguin placed 19th with 12:01.36.
400 m hurdles: Abril Jimenez placed fourth with 1:04.82.
4x400 relay: Cal State San Marcos women’s team placed third with 4:03.55.
Triple jump: Samantha Barbour placed 11th with 10.00 m.
Shot put: Cynthia Flores placed 13th with 12.09 m.
Discus: Cynthia Flores placed 28th with 30.55 m.
Javelin: Victoria Ciulla placed 21st with 26.33 m.

10,000 m run (competed 4/25): Rene Reyes placed first with 32:12.26.
100 m dash: Yanta Morrow placed eighth with :11.25; James Rankin placed 22nd with :12.07; and Dimetri Williams placed 25th with :12.74.
200 m dash: Yanta Morrow placed 12th with :23.37; James Rankin placed 19th with :25.13; and Dimetri Williams placed 20th with :25.23.
400 m dash: Dax Solorzano placed 9th with :50.08.
800 m run: Tim Irwin placed 28th with 2:00.03; and Polo Mariscal placed 39th with 2:11.62.
1,500 m run: Robby McClendon (running unattached) placed first with 3:54.99; Mike Shannon placed fourth with 3:58.63; Richie Gray placed eighth with 4:01.23; Marco Alvarado placed 13th with 4:05.95; Jesse Armijo placed 16th with 4:08.84; Carlos Sanchez placed 22nd with 4:13.87; Eddie Mariscal placed 25th with 4:16.43; Tony Herr placed 26th with 4:16.81; Effrain Carillo placed 31st with 4:23.83; and Matt McCarron placed 32nd with 4:25.79.
400 m hurdles: Robert Velasco placed fifth with :54.95.
High jump: Donald Harris placed second (five-way tie) with 1.93 m.
Pole vault: Moises Loza placed 11th (six-way tie) with 4.12 m.
Javelin: Ed Wurtz placed ninth with 50.20 m.
