Faculty Associate
Dr. Robert Yamashita received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley and joined the Liberal Studies Faculty at CSUSM in 1998. In addition to his research and teaching, he is the Coordinator for the Integrated Credential Program, a joint-degree program with the College of Education. He is also working to develop the Interdisciplinary track in Science and Society at CSUSM.
Dr. Yamashita is currently working on research projects related to social impact of science and technology as well as race and health care issues. In particular, he is interested in the delivery of health care services for genetic disease and the implications of new information technologies. He has also worked on projects related to the experience of diversity on a University campus and on the automation of qualitative research methods.
Dr. Yamashita is a Faculty Associate at the NLRC and is actively involved in the Community Action to Fight Asthma (CAFA) project as well as program evaluation for the Clean Air Initiative in the Imperial Valley region of California.
