When and How to Apply for Admission to the
Traditional BSN or LVN to BSN Programs at CSU San Marcos


You must complete a separate, online application to the School of Nursing for entry to either of these two Nursing programs.  The LVN to BSN program is only for students who hold an active California LVN license, and whose Nursing course credits and grades appear on a regionally-accredited college or university transcript, except for military-trained applicants.

Students will apply during the following time lines. There isn't any charge to apply to our School of Nursing for admission to one of these Nursing Programs. You do not need to have the Pre-Nursing Core coursework completed until the end of the previous spring term for a fall entry to the program.  For the Traditional BSN program, student will have until the end of the previous spring term to complete the TEAS exam or for other coursework, the LOTER, or volunteer/work experience to be applied toward admission to the program. 

For Entry Into the Nursing Program In:          Apply to the School of Nursing Between:
Fall 2013 Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, 2012
Fall 2014 Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, 2013



For example, if you plan to apply for admission to the Fall 2013 traditional BSN program, you will have until the end of the Spring 2013 semester to obtain your highest score on the TEAS exam, complete the Pre-Nursing Core with a minimum GPA of 2.75, complete any coursework or exam to earn the optional points for Language other than English, or to accumulate and submit documentation of work and/or volunteer experience.

If you plan to apply for entry to the Nursing programs offered through Extended Learning, such as the Accelerated BSN, RN to BSN, or RN to MSN programs, please consult the Extended Learning Web site for the program application timelines and entry requirements.  You may also want to attend one of the Nursing Information Sessions, offered through Extended Learning, for any of these specific Nursing programs.
