Why Town Hall Meetings?
The economic crisis continues to have a devastating effect on our community. How devastating? What areas of need are most affected? As a public entity, the university and its Office of Community Service Learning (OCSL) want to be included in community conversations that address important issues that impact our communities’ food security, mental and physical health, education, housing/shelter, and financial literacy.
With funding from the Office of Community Engagement at the CSU Chancellor’s Office, the OCSL teamed with Interfaith Community Services, the Alliance for Regional Solutions, New Haven Youth and Family Services, and CSUSM students to collaborate on a series of three town hall meetings to bring leaders of nonprofit agencies together. The information the OCSL gathered from the meetings identified the communities’ greatest assets and challenges, and provided a rich insight on community identified “next steps.”
We hope you find our Town Hall website informative and helpful.
