Early Outreach Program
The Early Outreach Program seeks to prepare and increase the number of economically, educationally, physically, and environmentally disadvantaged students entering and graduating from post secondary education. As educational advocates Early Outreach empowers students by providing academic enrichment skills, facilitating the college entrance and admissions process, developing leadership skills and opportunities, and establishing collaborative partnerships with private and public sectors.
K-10 Campus Visits
The Office of Early Outreach offers campus visits to local and statewide schools and community-based programs for K-10 grade students. Typically a visit will include a welcome from one of our outreach coordinators and student staff, a student panel, an educational activity, campus tour and resource materials for each student. This is a great way to get your students motivated and excited about the college experience!
College: Making It Happen
A program designed to communicate to families and school educators the importance of early academic and financial planning in order for middle school children to have choices after high school graduation. With the help of various college and university representatives from Mira Costa and Palomar Community Colleges, UCSD, USD National and Alliant International University, The Office of Early Outreach coordinates several presentations throughout North San Diego County areas including, Bonsall, Escondido, Murrieta, Oceanside, Valley Center and Vista.
I’m Going to College
The goal of the I’m Going to College program at Cal State San Marcos is to increase college awareness for low-income students and socially disadvantaged communities. This unique program offers a comprehensive college experience for fourth grade students in North County, introducing them to the language and culture of college and culminating in a daylong event simulating the first day of college. Engaging students at the elementary level lays a foundation that prepares students for the rigor and challenges on the path to success.

School Site Visits
If you’re interested in having an Early Outreach representative talk to your elementary or middle school students about the importance of a higher education or early college planning, then you’ve come to the right place! We offer student and parent presentations by request only.

North County AVID Student Leadership Conference
This annual conference is hosted by The Office of Early Outreach at Cal State San Marcos in conjunction with the San Diego County Office of Education. Each year the Office of Early Outreach welcomes nearly 200 local middle and high school AVID students and AVID coordinators to attend this mini-conference and receive information about leadership and college awareness by way of workshops. This is a wonderful opportunity for young students to meet and interact with their fellow peers.
