What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound (UB) is an academic college preparation and retention program. UB is designed to assist 9th – 12th grade students in developing the skills necessary to ensure high school graduation and future success in college. Participation in UB is year-round and geared for motivated students. Cal State San Marcos UB serves 50 students from four high schools in North San Diego County.
Upward Bound provides:
- Academic advising & support
- Assistance with college applications
- Assistance with Financial Aid applications
- Scholarship assistance
- Personal education planning
- Cultural enrichment activities
- Local & extended college visits
- Tutorial services at each target school
- Parent education workshops
Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program
through the U.S. Department of Education.
Therefore, all services offered to our participants are FREE.
