Van Pool

START A GREAT NEW SAVINGS PLAN - Commuting to work in a vanpool saves the average commuter $800.00 a year or more, compared to the cost of driving alone. If you want to pay less for gas, repair bills, parking, maintenance, and wear and tear on your own vehicle, check out vanpooling.

A Vanpool consists of a group of 7 to 15 people who commute together on a regular basis in a roomy, comfortable full-size van or minivan.  There are one or two designated drivers and riders split the expenses. Each vanpool can remove as many as 14 vehicles off of the road each day, significantly reducing fuel consumption, traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.

San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) gives a monthly subsidy to offset the rental cost. The regional Guaranteed Ride Home Program, sponsored by SANDAG provides an emergency ride home to commuters who vanpool. To be eligible you must be registered through RideLink.  For more information go to Guaranteed Ride Home Program or go to: www.icommutesd.com.
