Administrative Building

Administrative Building (formerly Craven Hall) was the first building at Cal State San Marcos that was programmed to house all of the administrative functions for the entire campus.  During the initial years, this building also housed the Library, College of Business Administration, Student Services, University Police, Student Health Services, and the College of Arts & Sciences. Administrative Building was originally named after Senator William Craven who helped to found CSUSM in 1989.

In 2007 three floors of this building were renovated after Kellogg Library and Markstein Hall were occupied.  As part of this renovation, Cougar Central was established which centralized all student services into one location.  This one-stop shop makes it easier for students to access Financial Aid and Scholarships, Enrollment Management Services, and the Cashier's Office all in one visit. As you exit, you will find yourself in Tukwut Courtyard. Tukwut is the LuiseƱo word for mountain lion, and was selected by our first class of students to serve as our mascot.

This building now houses the following units on campus:

  • Office of the President
  • Division Offices: Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Community Engagement, University Advancement, Finance and Administrative Services
