      May  2005 Update

Welding north stair guardrail at roof               Installing window flashing east elevation          Installing curtain wall west elevation

The metal stud framing, drywall, and other rough-in work continues on all floors of both wings. The exterior precast panel erection and adjusting and welding, except for the area of the temporary man-lift on the cast side, was completed in mid-April.  Elevator installation work also continues.  It is expected one elevator will be available by early to mid-July to allow removal of the man lift. Work started this month on the exterior exposed metal paneling, the west elevation curtain window walls, and the plaster soffitts.  Additionally, the main HVAC units (8) were delivered and set in place on the north and south roofs.  Due to the weather-related time extensions, the project completion date remains mid-December 2005.

GROUP II EQUIPMENT PROCUREMENT PROCESS – Locations for white boards, bulletin boards and tension bars have been approved by the Business Building Planning Team and the architect has released this information to the contractor for blocking and to Procurement for purchasing.  The scope of the building way-finding and donor signage has been established and is being contracted for design services.  Special computer tables have been identified that allow the monitor to store beneath the desk surface so the tables can be utilized for a standard classroom, and a mock-up has been reviewed.  Classroom tables and chair samples have been reviewed.  The A/V procurement for classroom technology has begun with assistance from IITS staff and an A/V consultant contracted by the architect.  Faculty and staff space assignments are being identified as a first step in the modular systems furniture design process.
