The President establishes academic workdays and university holidays. Observance of Washington's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Admissions Day, Columbus Day, and Veteran's Day may be rescheduled by the President to meet the requirements of the instructional program.
The following holidays are observed on the calendar day specified:
- New Year's Day, January 1
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday, third Monday in January
- Memorial Day, last Monday in May
- Independence Day, July 4
- Labor Day, first Monday in September
- Thanksgiving Day, fourth Thursday in November
- Christmas Day, December 25
Any other day designated by the Governor for a public observance or holiday. Any holiday listed above which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday. A holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed the following Monday.
All employees receive a personal holiday each calendar year, which must be used within the same calendar year or be forfeited.
