In Spring 2007, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) approved the establishment of the LGBTQ Pride Center at Cal State University San Marcos. The ASI Board of Directors moved swiftly to hire Rodger D'Andreas as the inaugural Director of the Pride Center in April 2007.


Following a year of strategic planning and community building, The Pride Center held its official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Grand Opening Dinner the week of April 7-11, 2008, with more than 200 community members and guests attending the combined celebrations.


In June 2008, the Pride Center was awarded a San Diego LGBT Pride Grant from the Foundation for Change to support our outreach and education initiatives at Cal State San Marcos and in North County.
