The IITS department has been streaming video and audio since
the very earliest days this technology became available. Currently, we support
streaming two of the most popular formats:
These formats are available in bandwidths
appropriate to different customers. Here are some examples:
- Audio files (ex: mp3, 96-256 kbits/sec)
- Small video (ex: Windows Media, 320 x
240, 15 fps: 128-256kbits/sec)
- Cable-quality video (ex: MPEG2 or WMS,
3Mbits/sec)
Our plan for 2007 is to hopefully phase
out Real Media streaming and improve our Quicktime
offerings. We will also take a look at the Flash movie
protocol for the future.
