Media production facilities at Cal State San Marcos include purpose-built spaces and industry-standard tools for production and post-production of professional-grade video and audio work. They are located on the second floor of the Kellogg Library, and include:

General Access Areas

• Open Lab AV workstations: Twelve Macintosh computers with video decks attached (VHS, DVD, and DV) (Kel 2000);
• Media Library AV workstations: Two Windows workstations with AV cart in edit rooms (KL 2nd floor).

These areas are available for use by all members of the campus community during hours the library is open. Use for course-related media projects has priority over general computer use at these stations.

Production

• Video studio A - full three-camera production studio with control room (Kel 2316, 2314, 2315);
• Video studio B - full three-camera production studio with control room (Kel 2311, 2312, 2313);
• Audio studio - professional grade ProTools-based audio recording facility (Kel 2324, 2323, 2322).

These areas are available for scheduled, supervised use by instructors with courses requiring advanced studio production facilities. Faculty wishing to make use of these facilities should contact Will White (wwhite@csusm.edu or 8670).

Video studio control room

• Mediasite - facility for recording web training and lectures (Kel 2123 - in the Media Library).

The Mediasite room is available for faculty or staff wishing to create online training or lecture materials. People wishing to make use of these facilities should contact Justin Power (juspower@csusm.edu or 8655).

The MediaSite studio

Post-Production

• Video editing rooms - five digital video non-linear editing rooms with Final Cut Pro suite of tools (Kel 2413, 2417, 2436, 2437, 2444)
• Audio edit rooms - two ProTools-based audio editing rooms (Kel 2320, 2321).

These areas are available for scheduled use during hours the library is open for students in courses requiring advanced media post-production facilities. Faculty wishing to allow their students to make use of these facilities should contact Will White (wwhite@csusm.edu or 8670).
