Is Chartjunk Always Bad?” Christopher Aberson, “Applied Power Analysis for ANOVA and Regression;” Scott Roesch, “A Practical Guide to Meta Analysis;” and Leona Aiken, “Introduction to Multilevel Modeling.” These workshops do require separate registration, and registration forms are available at http://www.westernpsych.org. A complete description of these workshops can be found in a separate article in this issue of The Western Psychologist. Terman Teaching Conference The Lewis M. Terman Western Regional Teaching Conference will occur the day before the full WPA Convention on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 9am-5pm at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine. The conference is designed for faculty who teach at four-year universities and colleges, community colleges and high schools, and includes not only useful and interesting information directly related to the teaching of psychology, but also provides the opportunity to see award-winning teachers in action. Previous Terman conferences have received enthusiastic and excellent ratings from participants. Anne Duran and Beth Rienzi (CSU, Bakersfield) have organized an excellent Terman Conference Program which will feature presentations by Philip Zimbardo, George Slavich, Douglas Bernstein, JoAnn Brannock, Karen Huffman, Teresa Jacob, Katie Townsend-Marino, Jeffery Scott Mio, and Judy Wilson. A full description of the invited presentations in this program, along with the conference schedule, is presented in a separate article in the issue of The Western Psychologist. The Terman Conference does require separate registration, and the registration form is available here. At $25 for the full-day event, the Terman Conference is undoubtedly one of the best bargains available among educational programs today. 2008 Hotel Information All WPA Convention (April 10-13, 2008) presentations and events will occur at the elegant Hyatt Regency, Irvine (17900 Jamboree Blvd., Irvine, CA 92614, 949-975-1234 for reservations). Please note that the Terman Teaching Conference occurs from 9am-5pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 also at the Hyatt Regency, Irvine. Please identify yourself as an attendee at the Western Psychological Association Convention when making reservations. 2008 Student Scholarships Western Psychological Foundation Student Scholarships are awarded to WPA Student Members who are the first authors of their presentations. Awards are based on the blind ratings of abstracts by the Program Review Committee. All submissions by WPA Student Member First Authors are automatically considered for scholarship awards. In 2007, 16 WPA Student Members received awards of $400 each. Award amounts are dictated by contributions to the WPA Student Scholarship Fund. Every penny of contributions to this fund is awarded each year. Please contact the WPA Office if you have further questions about Student Scholarships |
