Focus Group Recommendations

The Balanced Scorecard Planning Council will meet regularly to pick several of the themes for improvement as initiatives.  We will keep the FAS employees updated with our progress via regular emails and updates to our web site.

Main Themes for Improvement:

  • Support and expand on flexible work schedules.
  • Improve Communication.
  • Eliminate gossip and sarcasm.
  • Improve conflict resolution skills and understanding of conflict resolution process.
  • Provide training about the University, job specific, and professional development.
  • Provide equitable training opportunities.
  • Improve information sharing from upper management to employees; hold managers accountable.
  • Continue to incorporate in our management practices, the positive behaviors learned through the Pacific Institute Training.

Positive Themes:

  • People like FAS for our customer-service oriented culture, our desire to continuously improve, our fun activities and team spirit, recognition of employees, and investing in them with the Pacific Institute training.
  • When defining professionalism, many responded with qualities already listed in our division values.
  • In departments, problem solving is handled through focus groups, handling issues at the front-line level, lead meetings, follow-up, and debriefing.
