Action plans for the 03/04 Values Survey results were developed for each area.
 
AVP HRCE Office

OFI: Maintain our positive work environment

  • Action Plan:
    • Daily review of the audiotapes from the Pacific Institute and have brief discussions.
    • On a monthly basis, review work-related chapters of the Pacific Institute curriculum.
    • Review the daily thoughts from Lou Tice and discuss any insights at weekly staff meetings.  

Risk Mgmt and Safety

OFI: Maintain our high values survey results while our staff dynamics continue to change (staff changes)

  • Action Plan:
    • Screen applicants, find complimenting skill sets, look for a "good fit" with our team dynamics, seek alignment with RMS  & university values.
    • Provide new team members with good orientation, mentorship and help develop the campus climate to make new employee comfortable with new surroundings.
    • Provide good tools and guidance to empower new employees to be successful in their new positions.
    • Continue collaboration, team spirit, respect and support.

Clarke Field House/USU

OFI: Utilize a shared file folder system to encourage follow-through, develop trust and to foster support within the department.

  • Action Plan:
    • Assign a champion to set up the system.
    • Include access to staff calendars so that work schedules can be easily viewed.
    • Move all policies, procedures and forms currently being held in numerous places, into the shared folder.
    • Document individual and group successes in the folder for everyone to see and celebrate.

Human Resources and Equal Opportunity

OFI: Improve problem solving

  • Action Plan:
    • Each member of the HREO staff will bring to our regular staff meeting an example of a problem that surfaced since the last staff meeting that they solved.
    • If a problem surfaces that makes sense for the team to discuss, then we will do some creative problem solving as a team during the staff meeting. 
    • Sharing these situations and, when appropriate, group problem solving will enhance our sense of working as a team across functional areas, so will possibly enhance some of the other values items such as team cooperation and support and value contributions.  

VPFAS Office

OFI: Keep the spirit of the Pacific Institute alive

  • Action Plan:
    • Listening to CD's and journaling 5 mornings per week (15 min)
    • Seeking testimonials from the division
    • Planning, promoting and supporting future training sessions for other employees
    • Training facilitators
    • Having related articles in the BSC Connect
    • Sending FAS employees the "daily email" link
    • Doing a 1/2 day review session  

Payroll Services

OFI: Bring Payroll to the Public = Increase Job Satisfaction

  • Action Plan:
    • Identify frequent errors and repeat offenders
    • Present Payroll information to BMRT and other existing groups
    • Create PowerPoints and flyers with quick Payroll information
    • Respond to BMRT Survey results
    • Modify Payroll web site to include more information for users
    • Report on the good things that Payroll does, i.e. "Did You Know" section showing low margin of errors
