FAS Strategic Priorities
During the next four years, the Finance and Administrative Services division will focus its efforts and resources on the following five key priorities: Workforce Development, Physical and Fiscal Asset Management, Environmental Stewardship, Managing Growth and Administrative Productivity and Quality. The Vice President will assign an Associate Vice President to champion each of the key initiatives. The FAS Strategic Priorities also align with the existing Cal State San Marcos Strategic Priorities: Academic Excellence, Student Life, Campus Climate, Community Partnerships, and Educational Equity.
1. Workforce Development –Recruit, develop and retain a quality and skilled workforce.
The Workforce Development priority encompasses the following activities:
- campuswide training
- organizational development
- diversity
- recruitment and retention
- compensation practices
- wellness program
- work/life initiatives
Supports Campus Strategic Priorities: Educational Equity, Campus Climate, and Academic Excellence
2. Physical and Fiscal Asset Management – Develop, maintain and effectively manage our physical and fiscal resources.
The Physical and Fiscal Asset Management priority encompasses the following activities:
- infrastructure maintenance and development
- fiscal stewardship (all resource budgeting)

3. Environmental Stewardship – Lead and educate the campus community for environmental stewardship.
The Environmental Stewardship priority encompasses the following activities:
- sustainable design
- energy conservation
- transportation demand management
- hazardous materials management

4. Managing Growth – Manage campus growth through effective planning, program development and support services.
The Managing Growth priority encompasses the following activities:
- student services
- parking
- crime enforcement and prevention
- new campus initiatives

5. Administrative Productivity and Quality – Continuously improve the quality of services offered to the campus community and unit productivity.
