Spring 2017 PASS Academic Success & Strategies Workshops

PASS Academic and Personal Development workshops are available for all CSUSM students. Workshops are developed and presented in collaboration with other campus departments/programs, such as Proficiency Services, Writing Center, Math Lab, Undergraduate Advising Services, and Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).  We look forward to your participation at our workshops!

ACADEMIC SUCCESS-STRATEGIES FOR DEALING WITH PROBATION, DISQUALIFICATION, AND SUCCEEDING ACADEMICALLY:

Dealing with Roadblocks on the Journey Towards Academic Success: Strategies in Avoiding and Working through Academic Probation

Learn helpful strategies to avoid/resolve being placed on Academic Probation. Policies, procedures, common barriers will be discussed, as well as strategies and resources to assist in getting you back on the road to success. Note: Attending this workshop will help you remove the academic probation/registration hold (if applicable).


FIRST-YEAR STUDENT SUCCESS - Offered in Fall

THE JOURNEY TOWARDS ACADEMIC SUCCESS: FIRST-YEAR STUDENT TRANSITION TO CSUSM:

High schools and universities are like comparing apples to oranges. You’ve started a brand new journey with the goal of earning a University degree. Come learn what students wish they knew when they first started their journey at CSUSM to ensure academic success. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn tips, policies, procedures and resources that can help make your college years successful. Presenters will share the common factors that promote and hinder student success. Topics covered will be different from orientation, so don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the journey ahead!


TRANSFER STUDENT SUCCESS - Offered in Fall

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY TOWARDS ACADEMIC SUCCESS:  TRANSFER STUDENT TO CSUSM GRADUATE:

You’ve chosen to continue your academic journey at CSUSM with the goal of earning a University degree.  Come learn what tips, policies, procedures, and resources transfer students wish they knew when they first transferred to CSUSM.  Presenters will share the common factors that promote and hinder transfer student success.  You’ve attended another college before, but CSUSM has its own culture and procedures, so learn strategies now to avoid bumps in the road later!  Topics covered will be different from orientation, so don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about your continued journey!


TEST-TAKING STRATEGIES:

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn what to do before, during, and after your exam.  Also, you will learn about various resources on campus to help you prepare, gain skills, and get support.


TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

Having a hard time being self-disciplined, productive and using your time wisely to accomplish your goals? If so, attend this workshop for tips and exercises to help you manage yourself and your time, create goals and develop strategies to accomplish them, and execute your action plan.


STUDY SKILLS AND LEARNING TOOLBOX:

Do you feel bored or limited by the types of strategies you are using to study and learn the material for your classes? If so, come to this workshop to learn more tools to add to your study skills repertoire and learning tool box.


PREPARING FOR FINALS:

Learn how to create a final exam preparation plan. Get a head start on planning to reduce stress and get ahead.



PASS Workshops are open to all CSUSM students. Space is limited due to seating capacity.
