Come explore Santa Cruz island, the largest island of the Channel Islands National Park, in our three-day backpacking adventure! Explore remote coastline cliffs with pristine beaches, giant sea caves, and marvelous tide pools hidden among the 77 miles of coastline. Discover a diverse ecosystem shaped by millions of years of isolated evolution that includes eight plant species that are found only on Santa Cruz island. Embrace culture rich in 10,000 years of American Indian habitation and over 150 years of European exploration. Students will learn and apply the basics of outdoor leadership, stewardship, and environmental responsibilities through Leave No Trace principles. Students will also learn the basics of navigation, outdoor cooking, group dynamics, and back country camping. Click to view itinerary.
