Website Redesign Project

Welcome to the CSU San Marcos Website Redesign Project! On August 8, 2008, the first phase of the new csusm.edu went live signifying an important milestone for our campus. As this is a multi-phase project that affects many facets of our campus and the community, we have created this area of the site to keep you informed about the project and collect your questions and feedback.

Project History

In 2007, Instructional & Information Technology Services (IITS) and the Office of Communications joined forces to begin the process of redesigning the campus Web presence. The two offices spent months on research and development, which included:

  • Selecting a powerful content management system for ease of maintenance
  • Consulting with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to determine their wants and needs
  • Implementing technologies and standards that enable visually-impaired visitors to browse the website
  • Developing multiple design concepts and measuring their effectiveness through usability testing
  • Writing and refining written content so that the website appeals to both an internal audience (ie: existing students, faculty and staff) and an external audience (ie: potential students, potential employees, potential donors, and community members)

Throughout this process, the ultimate goal was to create an engaging and user-friendly site that all potential visitors would find useful and informative.
