It's been four years since the launch of CSUSM's existing website. Since that time, some technologies have changed dramatically, and social media usage has become a standard part of life. More importantly, our website has grown with the campus — more CSUSM websites, pages and documents exist than ever before.
We need to ensure that our website remains innovative and easy to use. That's why the University is embarking on a website upgrade project.
Some important project facts...
- It is a collaborative effort
The CSUSM Office of Communications and Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) have worked together to develop the project and its plan for implementation. - It reflects the desires of the campus community
Over the last year, we've solicited feedback from all segments of the campus by analyzing visitation statistics, offering an opportunity to take part in a website usability survey, and gaining valuable information about the needs of our students through focus groups administered by a CoBA Senior Experience team. We will continue to consult the campus throughout the remainder of the project. - It's being implemented responsibly to minimize the impact to campus
Out of respect for today's challenging budget realities, the web upgrades will be implemented incrementally in phases over the next 12-18 months. Furthermore, campus webmasters will continue to use our Cascade software to maintain campus websites — no need for major retraining or process changes.
