Welcome to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research

Research and Sponsored Projects Web

The Office of Graduate Studies and Research supports the campus' values of intellectual engagement, integrity, and innovation by promoting faculty research, scholarly, and creative activities. The office develops and administers policies and procedures designed to support the research goals of the campus. In the area of sponsored projects, the office is responsible for helping faculty and staff seek external support for their scholarly activities. Working closely with the CSUSM Foundation, the Associate Vice President for Research ensures that all agency guidelines and university policies are followed in the process of submitting proposals for grants and contracts.

Other functions of the Office of Graduate Studies and Research include the following:

  • Overseeing the University's centers and institutes

  • Administering the University's internal grants in support of faculty scholarly and creative projects

  • Ensuring compliance and overseeing the standing committees on research with human participants and with animals

  • Coordinating the annual student research competition

  • Overseeing the University's graduate studies programs
