What is a list server?

List servers are basically electronic mailing lists which automatically distribute e-mail messages to everyone who is listed as a “subscriber”.  While e-mail make nearly instantaneous communication possible, response from the list to a particular posting may not necessarily be immediate.

Procedures

Format your email to the list program like so:

• To:  csusafety-request@csusm.edu
• From: yourmail@somewhere.edu
  • Where yourmail@somewhere.edu is your email address that you want to receive the mailing list post.
• Subject:  subscribe
  • Use subscribe if you want to join the list; use unsubscribe if you want to leave the list.
