Service of Subpoenas
A subpoena for the personal appearance of a CSU witness must be served on that witness as provided by the appropriate statute.
A subpoena for business records must be personally served on the custodian of records through the campus coordinator.
Subpoenas for legal action against the university should be referred to the California State University Office of General Counsel. Additional information is available online at: http://www.calstate.edu/gc/service_of_process_subpoenas.shtml
Subpoenas must be personally served. The campus cannot accept subpoenas by mail (USPS, Fedex, UPS) or fax.
A $15.00 record fee must accompany the subpoena at the time of service. Checks should be made payable to Cal State University San Marcos.
