Bloodborne Pathogen Guide:

This guide provides universal precautions for university employees to follow in order to eliminate or minimize exposure to infectious agents or occupational situations that could cause accidental transmission of bloodborne pathogens. The university’s Exposure Control Plan (ECP) within the bloodborne pathogen guide is based off the provisions of Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) and California Code of Regulations Bloodborne Pathogens (CCR 5193).  The guide provides information on employee’s responsibilities, personal protective equipment, Biosafety levels, transmission, emergency procedures, signage and waste management.

All student assistants, volunteers, graduate or undergraduate laboratory assistants must have annual Blood borne Pathogen training. Laboratory Safety and Hazardous Communication training will cover information for working in the laboratory. Link to training page.
