Environmental, Health and Safety Technician
John “Nick” Tollison has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM). He is a certified Radiation Safety Officer and Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP). He has over 5 years of experience working as a Laboratory Assistant for the Biology Department at CSUSM. For 3 of those 5 years he worked as a Laboratory Assistant studying the effects of increased carbon dioxide in seawater on the calcification rates of Limacina helicina and Orbulina universa under Dr. Victoria Fabry.
Currently, as an Environmental Health and Safety Technician he assists in various programs but primarily in ergonomics, food safety and sanitation, laboratory safety, and hazardous waste management. To continue his advancement in the health and safety field, he is currently working on his masters in biology at California State University, San Marcos and fulfilling his training hours to become a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
