“Silent Spring” Common Read Opportunity Drawing

CSUSM and other partners across San Diego county join for a second annual common read. Aligned with SAND’s environmental theme for the year, the book is Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring (1962). “Silent Spring exposed the hazards of the pesticide DDT, eloquently questioned humanity's faith in technological progress and helped set the stage for the environmental movement. DDT, the most powerful pesticide the world had ever known, exposed nature's vulnerability.
