NEW: Fall 2009 Fee Increase

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.

Per the Board of Trustees action on July 21, effective in fall 2009, full-time fees will increase for undergraduate, teacher credential and graduate students. This increase is in addition to the fee increase adopted in May. Including the current campus fee of $624, CSUSM undergraduate fees will be $4,650 per year ($2,325 per semester).

Students will be notified by e-mail once the fee increase has been reassessed on their account at which time they will be asked to please check their Student Services Center at MyCSUSM to view the assessment.

PLEASE NOTE: For classes reserved on or after August 6, 2009, payment is DUE THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY BY 12 NOON; however, the additional fee increase approved by the Board of Trustees will be due September 1st at noon.

STUDENT WITH FEE DEFERMENT: Your fee deferment is based on anticipated financial aid so please note that if you have inadequate financial aid to cover all fee charges, you will be required to pay your balance due. Therefore, it is your responsibility — and our best advice to you — to check your Student Services Center in MyCSUSM very frequently for any updates or changes to your Fall 2009 fee deferment and financial aid eligibility.

For current fee information, please visit the Fall Fees & Charges page.

NEW: Effective Fall 2009:
Limit on Undergraduate Registration

Due to the State of California budget crisis, beginning June 4, 2009, Fall 2009 undergraduate registration will be limited to 13 credit hours.  Continuing CSUSM students who have already registered for Fall 2009 will keep the classes for which they are currently registered as long as payment is made by the prompt pay deadline of Thursday, July 9, 2009.  New CSUSM students will have the opportunity to meet with an advisor at Orientation to select their courses.  All undergraduates who change or complete their registration for Fall 2009 will be subject to the 13 credit hour limit as of June 4.

This limit will remain in effect until the end of the summer orientation period, and will be reconsidered thereafter, depending on the California budget and its impact on CSUSM.  An appeal process to request an exception to the 13 credit hour limit will be available via the Undergraduate Advising Services website at http://www.csusm.edu/academicadvising/.

If this policy changes, information will be posted at https://my.csusm.edu and sent to CSUSM email accounts.  Thank you.
