Family Orientation
Welcome to the CSUSM Family!
We are pleased to offer several options for family members of First Year Students to learn more about the CSUSM campus and how to support their students during their first year of college.
Family Orientations run concurrently with selected First Year Student Orientation sessions your student will be attending. We allow 2 guests to attend per student and the fee is $40 per guest. Students will have the opportunity to register a guest online when making their own reservation.
Orientation Reservations open at 9:00AM
Wednesday, May 8th on the students' portal in MyCSUSM
If you attend a Family Orientation (spaces are limited), you will have the opportunity to:
- Hear about helpful campus resources available to CSUSM students
- Take a campus tour
- Interact with current student leaders serving on the volunteer Orientation Team
- Hear how to best support your student as they begin their transition to college
- Learn what it means to be a CSUSM Cougar
Meet faculty and staff who are dedicated to providing your student with a quality experience at CSUSM and more. All newly admitted First Year students must attend Orientation in order to register for courses prior to the first day of the admitted semester. Please note that guests who attend Family Orientation will not be attending Orientation with their student. Guests will attend a seperate session from their student and will be reunited during lunch. Students receive the same Orientation experience at both First Year with Family and Student Only First Year Orientation sessions. Review our FAQ page to get many of your questions answered.
