Transfer Orientation is the university's response to the unique needs of busy transfer students. It is a stream-lined, half-day, academic advising and course registration process. Transfer Orientation gives incoming students the opportunity to visit the campus, learn about helpful resources, receive academic advising, begin the course registration process, and take care of critical business prior to the start of the semester. The cost to attend is $65 per student. Due to space restrictions, guests are not permitted to attend.
Orientation sessions run June through August. Various sessions are offered to accommodate the busy lives of Transfer students. Students who choose not to attend Orientation will not have access to register for courses until the first day of the admitted semester.
After a student accepts the intent to enroll and pays the $150 enrollment deposit, an Orientation hold will be visible in MyCSUSM for those who need to attend Orientation. This hold prevents course registration and will be removed the day of a student's Orientation. If an Orientation hold is not on a student's account, they may not have to attend Orientation. Contact Orientation and New Student Programs with any questions. Review our FAQ section to get many of your questions answered.
