Peer Mentoring Program

The Peer Mentoring Program offered through the Office of Student Life and Leadership (specifically Multicultural Programs and Orientation & New Student Programs) assists first-generation, first-year college students from traditionally underserved and underrepresented backgrounds succeed during their first semester at CSUSM and beyond by connecting them with peers, faculty/staff, and campus resources. Priority consideration is given to students who are the first in their immediate family to attend college and not participating in a CSUSM specialized program. Transfer students are not eligible for the program.

Current students are selected as Peer Mentors and paired with incoming students to help with the transition to college life from high school. Mentors share their experiences at CSUSM with their mentees as well as help them get involved on campus, meet people, remind them of deadlines, and get acquainted with the campus. They are a friendly face and point of contact during the first year.

Applications to be a mentee for 2016-2017 Peer Mentoring Program are now closed.
