WELCOME!
Students Talking About Relationships & Sex (S.T.A.R.S.) is a peer education prevention program that utilizes interactive theater and dialogue to transform individual behaviors and create positive social change. STARS educates students on sexual assault, relationship abuse and bystander intervention, and empowers peer educators to become advocates for a safe, healthy, and inclusive CSUSM community.
STARS works with a cohort of 12-15 students who volunteer their time to make a difference on campus. STARS peer educators may also enroll in Women's Studies 300-7 to recieve course credit for their work. These STARS educate their peers in classrooms and at special events.
STARS create positive social change at CSUSM by:
- Creating a community based on the values of respect, compassion, and inclusiveness
- Giving peers the tools to be positive, active bystanders
- Reducing passive acceptance of a spectrum of abusive behaviors
- Promoting healthy sexuality and relationships

STARS is a collaboration between ASI Gender Equity Center & SHCS: HOPE & Wellness Center.
