Student Affairs Annual Report
Academic Year 2008-2009

Welcome to the 2008-2009 Student Affairs annual report.  We're excited to announce two important changes.  First, we've "gone paperless" by posting the report directly to our website. Scroll down to each area's report. In this way we'll be able to re-direct funding for printing to higher priorities, and use electrons rather than paper to show you what we've done this year.

Second, we've changed our focus from primarily listing accomplishments to engaging in assessment, analysis, and continuous improvement.  Each area begins by recapping their goals for 2008-09, followed by a brief synopsis of how/whether those goals were achieved.  The area's program of assessment is next described, along with findings and plans for next steps. We grounded our assessments in the Student Affairs vision statement, which you can find here: http://www.csusm.edu/studentaffairs/missionvision.html. You'll see that each area selected a program, service, or activity to assess, and a variety of methods were used to collect and analyze data.

This was our pilot year for our divisional assessment program, and we'll continue to revise the program based on our findings.  This is also our first "paperless" annual report, and we would be interested in your reaction.  Please send any comments and suggestions to me at pworden@csusm.edu. We'll be happy to take them into consideration for our next annual report, in summer 2010.

Sincerely,

Pat Worden
Vice President for Student Affairs
