Services Provided

Environmental review and planning typically requires scientific, statistical, and legal expertise. Many environmental issues also involve political, economic, and emotional aspects. This can complicate decision-making and review. As a result, it is important to include genuine independent, third-part support to lend expertise and analysis to environmental review.

The Environmental Leadership Institute takes the emotion and politics out of the equation to allow for an unbiased assessment in the following areas:

Environmental Review

The Institute provides science driven analysis and assessment of environmental issues, with an emphasis on support services for environmental planning and land use. The Institute also provides a variety of independent review services for individual projects, governments and agencies, and non-profits/NGOs.  These services also include feasibility and impact studies, especially important for large-scale infrastructure developments such as those for energy, water, and waste.  CEQA and NEPA documentation review is further provided support.

Additional support services provided in the following areas:

  • Sustainability initiatives
  • Community planning
  • City and regional planning
  • Conservation and watershed planning and restoration
  • Sustainable and green development practices
  • Renewable energy and infrastructure planning

Mediation

One of the hallmark services of Environmental Leadership Institute (ELI) is the environmental mediation service.  Designed to allow controversial project proponents and opponents to discuss, in an open and neutral forum, their concerns and wants, environmental mediation seeks to resolve issues that would otherwise languish in court for decades.  If a mutually agreed upon solution can be facilitated by a neutral third-party, both proponents and opponents can save money and time by identifying a mutually agreeable path forward.

Policy Initiatives

The Environmental Leadership Institute (ELI) is also a resource for environmental policy and regulation. As part of our services, the Institute serves as a “think-tank” providing decision-makers, agencies, and organizations with expert consultation and review for legislation, proposed regulations, policies, land management programs, and local ordinances. Our analysis is designed to help bridge the complex gap between science and policy, providing a support service for better-informed decisions and discussions.
