CSUSM at Temecula - Performance Jazz Band

Musicians and vocalists wanted! We're looking for talented musicians and vocalists to compete for up to 26 select positions to become a member of this unique performance-based music education program. The 10-week program is designed to create a learning environment for talented jazz musicians to develop and advance in their music performance skills. 

Learn from well-known and successful bandleader, Jon Laskin. Jon has vast experience in live performance and in many musical styles and venues, from trio to swing/big band, R&B, classic rock and dance. Jon has worked and performed with such greats as Jose Feliciano, the Powder Blues Band, "Wired" - the Blues Brothers review, Billy Preston, Duffy Jackson (with the Count Basie band), jazz legend- Chubby Jackson (with the Woody Herman band), Richie Cole, Dick Berk, Gil Bernal, Marino, Alex Ligertwood (of Santana), Tommy Eyre (from Joe Cocker's band), Tommy Cash, Richie Cole, Dick Berk, The Ink Spots, Llew Matthews (from Nancy Wilson's band), Tad Weed, Scarlet Rivera (from Bob Dylan's band). Even Jewel has sat in on Jon's gigs.

We are accepting online applications now. Applications must include your pre-recorded track (e-Audition) to become eligible to compete for one of up to 26 positions - 21 musicians and 5 vocalists - and all applications require a nonrefundable $25 application fee, which can be applied toward the $450 fee - only $15/hour for quality performance-based instruction.

We're looking for...

1 Pianist; 1 Bass player; 1 Drummer; 1 Guitarist; 3 Alto Sax; 3 Tenor Sax; 1 Baritone Sax; 5 Trumpets; 5 Trombones; 5 Vocalists.

It could be YOU!

Required experience level: Applicants must read at least at level-one, play at least two major, two minor scales, have the ability to keep time, and a desire to learn and perform live.

Age eligibility: 16 - 65+

Application and e-Audition deadline: Friday, June 1, 2012      

e-Auditions are required at the time of application. To be accepted for a live audition your e-Audition MUST include: any listenable quality sound recording - .mp3 or .wav file of YOU playing YOUR part of the sample music provided; and at least two major & two minor scales, two octaves of each.  Optional, include any sample of YOU playing that you think best shows your talent and ability as a musician.
