What is The Clarke?
The Clarke is an abbrevieated name for The M. Gordon Clarke Field House / University Student Union. The Clarke is a combination recreation facility and student union. The recreation facilities include a fitness center, half court gymnasium, full-size outdoor basketball court, and a sand volley ball court. The student union is composed of a conference center as well as various student lounge areas. Tenants include ASI Campus Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics.
Where is The Clarke located?
The Clarke is located on the corner of Campus Way and Campus View Drive across the street from the University Village Apartments. From highway 78, turn south onto Twin Oaks Valley Road, left onto Barham Drive, right onto Campus Way, and right into The Clarke parking lot. What hours are The Clarke open?
Monday-Thursday: 6am-10pm
Friday: 6am-8pm
Saturday: 10am-6pm
Sunday: 12pm-8pm
Note: Facility hours are subject to change during holidays and Finals Week
Who is eligible to use The Clarke?
All members of the campus community, including faculty and staff, are eligible to utilize the facility. Outside community members must be "sponsored" by current active members in order to attain membership to The Clarke.

How do I become a member of The Clarke?
To become a member, you must complete a set of liability waiver forms and complete a brief facility orientation. Membership forms are available upon request at the information desk of The Clarke.
What does membership cost?
Membership for most matriculated students are paid via university registration fees. All other students, including Open University, Extended Learning, and ALCI (American Language Cultural Institute) students, must pay a membership fee. Faculty and Staff may activate their memberships by paying monthly or through payroll deduction. The membership fee varies depending on the payment method selected as well as the member type.

What recreational classes are offered?
Recreational classes are offered each semester through the ASI Campus Recreation Department. For information on specific class offerings, visit the ASI website, or contact the Campus Recreation Center at (760) 750-6009.
What events will be held this semester?
Visit The Campus Calendars website to view events that are happening on the entire campus, Including The Clarke. What employment opportunities are available at The Clarke?
For positions beginning in the fall, applications will be available the preceding spring. A group selection process in mid-April. The Clarke student assistant positions include duties at the information desk, event operations, fitness center, and marketing specialists. Applications are available at the information desk.
How do I make a suggestion/complaint?
To submit your suggestion or concern, fill out and submit a comment card at the front desk.
How can I reserve part of the facility?

What offices or departments are included at The Clarke?
The Clarke currently provides office space for staff of the Athletics Department, ASI Campus Recreation, and The Clarke operations staff. The Kinesiology Department schedules various Undergraduate courses located at The Clarke, however, does not have faculty offices in the building.
Are there any food service vendors at The Clarke?
At this time there are no current food service vendors located at The Clarke. Vending machines featuring beverages and snacks are located in the building in two locations—The Cougar Den and outside of the Fitness Center in the hallway.
