Track & Field Rules and Regulations
All organized events and sports activities must be authorized by the University.
No unauthorized instruction or use may take place on the track.
Unauthorized equipment is Prohibited.
No animals allowed, except service animals.
For scheduling and authorized use information, contact the University Student Union office at (760) 750-7400.
For recreational activities, contact the Associated Students, Inc. at (760) 750-4990.
Unauthorized Equipment for this facility is defined by the campus as all equipment (not including articles of clothing, strapped hand or leg weights, and eye glasses) used in an activity which is not supervised by a CSUSM athletic coach or trainer, a CSUSM physical education instructor, or which is not part of an approved CSUSM Associated Students Inc. recreational program.
Do I need to have special shoes?
You need a running shoe or similar soft sole shoe. If spiked shoes are used, the spikes must be 1/4 in. or less; spikes greater than this size will damage the track.
What kinds of events are/are not permitted on the track and the field?
Track and field, soccer, lacrosse, flag football, etc. are allowed, if previously scheduled by filling out a request for facility use form.
Concerts, public presentations, and other activities are considered special events, and must be approved by the scheduling authority.
What do I need to do to have an event?
Call (760) 750-7400 to obtain a "Request for Facility Use" form. Please fill out and submit the form, to be reviewed by the scheduling authority for approval.
How far in advance do I need to book an event?
Approximately one month in advance is recommended.
Do you generally require insurance for me to have an event on the track?
All non-university sponsored events will require insurance. When you submit a "Request for Facility Use" form, you will be contacted with the details.
Where should the community park when using the track?
Parking is available in the student lots for the following costs:
$6.00 All day permit
$5.00 5 hour permit
$4.00 3 hour permit
$2.00 1 hour permit
