American Express Updates

Electronic Statement ONLY Notification

Effective June 25, 2009, you will no longer receive paper statements in the mail from American Express for your travel card.

To receive your statements electronically, you MUST enroll in MYCA immediately. Failure to do so may result in your missing an electronic statement delivery and becoming delinquent in payment. There is no "opting out" of the electronic statement process per the Governor.

Step by step instructions are provided for you at the following website: www.americanexpress.com/register

Once you have enrolled, each month you will automatically receive an e-mail notification with a link to your newest statement.

If you need help with this process, please contact the Travel Desk @ traveldesk@csusm.edu or Kris Roberts at x4466.

"No Activity" Status

To all California State University San Marcos employees who carry the Travel American Express (AMEX) Card:

If your Travel AMEX card is not used during a 3-12 month period, it may become "inactive" or even "canceled".  If you have not used your card in 3-12 month, please take a minute to call American Express, especially if you have upcoming travel scheduled, to verify the status of your card.  If the status has been changed to "Inactive", American Express will reactivate your card over the phone. If the status has been changed to "Canceled", Please contact Kris Roberts @

If the card is not reactivated in a reasonable period of time, you may be required to go through the process of reapplying for a new card. This can be time consuming and will result in issuing a new card. Therefore, please contact American Express as soon as possible.

In an effort to eliminate paper and streamline access to your account, the State of California and American Express are driving efforts to reengineer the process, giving you a vital way to manage your State Government Card.
