Valuable Campus Partnerships
On the CSUSM campus, UARSC’s presence is known through its administration of externally funded research and sponsored programs and the many valuable enterprise partners it oversees. Enterprise partners include Follett Higher Education Group, Sodexo, PepsiCo, Children’s Creative Learning Centers, Campus Coffee and FedEx Office. These enterprise partners provide beneficial services and generate revenue that is streamed back through the campus.
Office of Sponsored Projects
UARSC’s Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) provides professional and timely assistance to faculty and staff in their pursuit of externally funded research and sponsored programs. UARSC’s OSP believes in partnering with the campus community to provide resources which support student success. Throughout the year, the OSP works collaboratively with the campus community to enhance the capability of the university by generating and administering external awards for instructional, research, public service and scholarly activities. In 2012, the OSP increased its sponsored programs to $7.6 million due in large part to the talented, creative faculty on campus. Campus Coffee
Most of the CSUSM community is familiar with Campus Coffee. Campus Coffee has partnered with the University for eight years, providing convenience and exceptional customer service to the campus. The coffee and snack kiosk run by friendly owners Tim and Sandra Sabatini, offers a familiar, warm and inviting experience for its patrons.
Children's Creative Learning Centers
The campus recently celebrated its five-year partnership with Children’s Creative Learning Centers (CCLC) which manages the Center for Children and Families (CCF) childcare center. Known for its pioneering and creative spirit and to help fill the campus with talented individuals, CSUSM joined forces with CCLC to design and build a custom on-site child care center. Under CCLC management, the center has become a showcase for the university. The Center currently serves 143 children, 73% of which are CSUSM affiliated and the rest drawing from the community. CCF provides high quality-care and flexible programming, a structured, age-appropriate curriculum, teacher training and exceptional customer service. Boasting a children’s kitchen and garden, webcams for parents, and an on-site classroom and observation lobbies for student teachers, the joint effort between the campus and CCLC has created a successful center and a positive caring environment for the children it serves. FedEx Office
UARSC has also teamed up with FedEx Office to offer valuable services at a discount to campus organizations. Through the FedEx Office network, you can manage your printing projects online anytime from anywhere, from the simple to the complex. FedEx offers fast printing services for creating manuals, presentations, brochures, flyers, posters, clings, banners, signs and more. Best of all, they offer local delivery. Monday through Friday, FedEx has pick up and delivery at our own University Store by 10:00 a.m. FedEx is committed to sustainable practices and the environment. They have even recently partnered with the University to recycle used FedEx boxes. Simply drop off your used boxes to the University Store and FedEx will make sure they are reused. Black and white copies are just 3 cents, single sided color copies are 39 cents and all other production services are 15% off. To use the discount, you will initially need to setup a FedEx account through UARSC by contacting Selma MdDermid at x4715. FedEx will bill UARSC for all accounts and UARSC will invoice your department. Follett Higher Education Group
Beginning its University partnership in July 2011, Follett Higher Education Group manages the on-campus bookstore and the University Store. The leading provider of bookstore services in North America, Follett services five million students and over 400,000 faculty members through more than 900 stores and through efollett.com. Follett is committed to providing “first-class” service to CSUSM students, faculty and employees. With a focus on affordability, Follett has introduced programs that increase accessibility to necessary materials and access to new technology. Through Rent-A-Text, used books and digital content offerings, Follett offers a full-service campus store, bringing a range of options to students and faculty both on campus and online. PepsiCo
Early in 2012, the campus partnered with PepsiCo as exclusive beverage provider on campus. More than half of the campuses throughout the CSU system have opted for exclusive beverage agreements. PepsiCo is committed to sustainability through its management of water, energy, packaging and waste. Pepsi beverage brands are served at all CSUSM campus dining locations, catering events on campus and vending machines. In exchange for exclusive beverage rights, CSUSM receives funds to support indentified programmatic needs. Sodexo
In August of 2012, a new partnership was formed with Sodexo for campus dining services. Sodexo, a food and facilities management services company, serves more than 900 educational institutions as well as hospitals, military bases, government agencies and conference centers throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. Sodexo will manage the Big Cat Bistro, Big Cat Market, Starbucks at CSUSM, as well as catering and conference meals on campus. Beginning in fall 2012, Sodexo plans to implement many exciting changes to campus food service operations, including a customized website and weekly menu offerings.
