Join the Student Arts Association!

This new student org is comprised of students who are interested in the arts and want to meet and collaborate on art projects, share information, initiate new art projects, strengthen the arts community on campus and much, much more. Students do not have to be VPA students to participate so it is open to ALL CSUSM students.

• Student Inspired... THE ART SHOW (Group Exhibit) - October 15-27; Opening Thursday, 10/15 at Noon in the Student Art Gallery. 

• DREAM BIG! - Graphic Design and the Power of Imagination, Presented by Randall Cornish - 10/21, 2:30-3:30, ARTS 111
  Description: What role does imagination play in visual communication and popular culture? How can you spark your creativity? What can graphic designers learn from fine art such as Surrealism  and Conceptual Art? What is "outsider art" and how can professionals learn from it? How is graphic design like story-telling? Slideshows and videos will accompany a discussion about "gestalt"-the idea that people perceive art as more than the sum of its parts-and proven graphic design techniques that convey meaning and make a lasting impression. 

• Love Your Body  (Partnering with ASI Womens Ctr) -10/29/09 - UHour - Kellogg Plaza
• Operation Art - Honoring our Veterans (Partnering with Veteran's Center & l US Navy- Fleet Combat Camera Group Pacific (FLTCOMBATCAMGRUPAC) - Art Opening & Reception 11/2/09 Clarke Field House,  6-8pm; Exhibit from 11/2-11/16. 
  
  Current projects students are working on are:
  

• Campus Graphic Design Projects to enhance personal portfolios - ongoing

• Group Mural located in ARTS Patio - Meets every Tuesday @ Noon; design concept is underway to incorporate iconic figures from each of the five art genres in VPA

• Me, Myself & College Art Contest - High School Art Exhibit  & Reception, (Partnering with GEAR-UP from Palomar College) 11/5/09 in ARTS 342, 5-7pm - seeking AA students to help with installation

• Art Project with ASI Women's Center - Interactive canvas project; Planned for Women's Herstory Month in March, seeking AA students to work on concept design
