"WELLNESS IS A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO LIVING WHEREBY INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES BECOME AWARE OF AND MAKE POSITIVE CHOICES IN CREATING AND PROMOTING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. WELLNESS IS THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE MIND, BODY AND SOUL INTO ONE'S PHILOSOPHY OF LIVING."

EMOTIONAL WELLNESS emphasizes awareness and acceptance of feelings, indicates the degree to which individuals feel positive and enthusiastic about themselves and their lives, includes the capacity to appropriately manage emotions and related behaviors including realistic assessment of one’s limitations, and possesses the ability to cope effectively with stress.


SPIRITUAL WELLNESS involves seeking meaning and purpose in human existence, includes the development of a deep appreciation for the depth and expanse of life and natural forces that exist in the universe, involves getting in touch with one’s innermost self – values and creativity and values education and engages in lifelong learning.

INTELLECTUAL WELLNESS encourages the development of intellectual capacities to their fullest and the use of resources available to expand knowledge, and expanding the potential for sharing with others.

PHYSICAL WELLNESS promotes participation in activities for cardiovascular endurance, muscular strengthening, and flexibility, focuses on insuring that the body is functioning at an optimal level, includes a focus on healthy nutrition and eating and drinking habits, engages in appropriate rest and relaxation, and promotes medical self-care and appropriate use of the medical system.

SOCIAL WELLNESS focuses on relationships varying in degree from meeting strangers, to acquaintanceship, to friendship, to intimacy with others, includes developing competencies to interact in a variety of social settings, including understanding the needs of self versus needs of others, encourages contributing to the common welfare of our community, emphasizes the interdependence with others and nature, encourages positive contribution to society, and promotes moving beyond a personal outlook to a more global worldview.

OCCUPATIONAL WELLNESS encourages preparing for work in which one will gain personal satisfaction and enrichment, includes developing appropriate attitudes toward one’s work and career, emphasizes an ability to make clear choices based on strengths, weaknesses, interests, and values, encourages effective balance between work and other aspects of one’s life.

CULTURAL WELLNESS focuses on the recognition, acceptance, and appreciation of a diversity of experiences, ethnic, cultural, lifestyle, arts, geographical, social economical, age, abilities, and value differences, practices an acceptance of individuals from a diversity of backgrounds, demonstrates an ability to suspend judgment while learning to understand differences, thereby learning tolerance and eventually embracing differences.

ENVIRONMENTAL WELLNESS recognizes the Earth’s preciousness, values minimizing wasteful consumption or unnecessary destruction of animals, plants, environments, elements, or energy and engages in recycling and conservation, protects natural resources, and strives for living and work spaces free of health hazards.
