Using Writing Center Services
There are four ways to use the Writing Center: appointments, walk-in service, computer stations, and online consultations.
Scheduling an Appointment:
Appointments can be scheduled through our website, over the phone, or in person. If you need help scheduling an appointment online, we will be glad to show you how.
Number of Appointments:
You may book no more than one appointment per day and no more than three per week. Appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. We will hold it for five minutes. If you are more than five minutes late for your appointment (by our clock), your time slot will be given to someone else. If you know you will be late, please call and let us know.
You are allowed two No Shows. Students who do not show up for two appointments without canceling will be blocked from making appointments for the rest of the semester.
Appointments may be canceled at any time through our website or by calling us at (760) 750-4168.
You do not need an appointment to work with a consultant. You may come to the Writing Center at any time to check if we have an available consultant. Drop-ins are seen on a "first come, first served" basis. Wednesdays are for drop-ins only. We have full staffing, and you are likely to get help within a few minutes. Try it!
The Writing Center has 10 public computers and a print station. You do not need to make an appointment to use a computer. Feel free to come in and work on your paper at any stage, including the research phase. Depending on their availability, consultants will answer your questions as they arise.
